A Framework for Multi-agent Electronic Marketplaces: Analysis and Classification of Existing Systems

چکیده
In this paper, we examine electronic marketplaces which employ multi-agent technology. More specifically, our attention is on controlled multi-agent emarketplaces without coalitions between agents. First we present a classification of such electronic marketplaces. Since the organization of negotiation between agents is decisive for this type of marketplace, we base our classification on negotiation-related attributes: the character of negotiation (either bilateral or multilateral), the number of issues over which an agreement must be reached (one ore many issues), and the level of vagueness of preferences for those issues (either crisp or fuzzy). The proposed schema is then used to classify and discuss several commercial and academic agentbased electronic marketplaces. Finally, we formulate some conclusions and challenges for further research in the field of agent-based e-marketplaces.

Automated Negotiation on Agent-Based e-Marketplaces: An Overview
This paper first describes a few existing models for product and merchant brokering and automated negotiation in the framework of agent-based emarketplaces. Our analysis shows that only simplest types of automated negotiation protocols are currently presented online, whereas some powerful systems have been already implemented in the product and merchant brokering field. Then we give an overview...

متن کاملAn Evolutionary Framework for Large-scale Experimentation in Multi-agent Systems∗
We discuss a construction of an evolutionary framework for conducting large-scale experiments in multi-agent systems for applications in electronic marketplaces. We describe how the evolutionary framework could be used as a platform for systematic testing of agent strategies and illustrate the idea with results from a simple supply-demand model. We further explain how to integrate the proposed ...

A common strategic initiative of organizations engaged in electronic commerce (EC) is the development of synergistic relations with collaborating partners in their value chains to deliver value proposition to their customers. This requires the transparent flow of problem specific knowledge to partner organizations over systems that exhibit high levels of integration. The unambiguously interpret...
متن کاملAgent-based Marketplaces for Electronic Commerce
We transfer the common notion of marketplaces as locations for trading to infrastructures for electronic commerce. Then, we argue that multi-agent systems are a promising technology to realise such electronic marketplaces because of the autonomous, task-oriented, and interactive capabilities of agents in dynamic and distributed environments. We present the agent toolkit JIAC IV and describe its...
